How to install a garage door opener | Home Improvement Journal

When installing a garage door opener is a project directly, the installation process is very specific manufacturer fully covered here. This article provides an overview of the process, both in preparation for installing a garage door opener or to help you decide whether to install the opener itself.

The methods described in this document are based on the instructions given by Stanley door systems. The method of installing third party ?may vary. When installing a garage door opener, always consult the manufacturer for detailed, step-by-step procedures and follow them closely.

There are three main types of garage door openers:

Persuaded Chain

Belt Driven

Persuaded thread

Safety Precautions

Before installation ? Make sure the garage door is well lubricated and functioning properly. Heavy garage doors are supported by door springs, cables and pulleys not the opener. If you raise and lower the door normally by hand, do not install the door opener until repaired.

Again relate to the opening of the door. Adjust the safety reverse system according to the manufacturer?s instructions, and then adjust the position of an open door.

For added security, especially around children and pets, federal law requires all installed electric eye garage door opener. This action will close your eyes the door to reverse if someone or something to pass between sensor.
